Stock Scanners

A scanner filters thousands of stocks down to a handful of candidates that meet your criteria. Without a scanner, the Sunday workflow doesn't exist — you'd be manually reviewing hundreds of charts with no systematic filter. The OPERATOR system has three TOS scanners and a web scanner.

Scanner A — Master Score (0–100)

The primary scanner. Runs 10 components: price range, liquidity, EMA stack (9>21>50), RSI zone (45–68), NVTS guard (5-day gain ≤ 18%), Bollinger Band coil, volume build, relative strength vs SPY, proximity to breakout, and MACD direction. Hard disqualifiers force the score to 0 regardless of other components. Filter at 65+, review 80+.

Scanner B — Options Environment (0–100)

Runs after Scanner A. Scores IV Rank, IV trend, liquidity proxy, and premium affordability. Score 70+ = calls are appropriate. Under 50 = stock only. This prevents buying expensive options in high-IV environments where the premium decay kills the trade even if the stock moves in your direction.

Scanner C — Pre-Market Gap (0–10)

Monday morning only, 8:00–9:15 AM. Scores gap quality: gap size (3–15% range), NVTS guard (prior 5-day gain check), relative volume, and candle structure. Score 8+ required. Must also be on Sunday watchlist. BW, GRPN, and BMBL all score 0 on this scanner automatically.

Browser-based version of Scanner A/B/C at scanner.operatortrading.com. Paste any list of tickers. Set price and volume filters. Get scored results in 30 seconds. Works on any device, no TOS required. Member tool.

Free Alternatives

Finviz: Run a free basic screener using similar criteria: price $4–$12, average volume over 500K, RSI under 70, price above SMA200. This replicates Gate 1 and part of Gate 4 but without the NVTS guard or composite scoring.

TradingView screener: More indicator flexibility than Finviz. Can approximate most Scanner A components. Doesn't support custom script uploading in free tier.
